Mr. Sameer Shah is an Advocate from India and an International Arbitrator & Mediator with an active legal practice and experience of 26 years. He is one of the Directors of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London) - India Branch and has been giving training and education in ADR since last decade and more. He is Specialising and practicing in the field of Arbitration and other forms of ADR and has been appointed both as Sole Arbitrator and Tribunal Member Arbitrator in Arbitrations in varied subject matter of disputes such as construction, commercial, marine engineering etc. He also appears as Counsel of the parties in both domestic and international arbitrations and also litigations before various courts across India including for Maritime Disputes.
He exclusively advised Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB), the Government Entity responsible for Port Development and Maritime Traffic in the State of Gujarat, for Alang Ship Breaking Yard’s workers safety and also drafted the Regulations for the Workers Safety at Alang. He also represented GMB for finalising various Jetty Agreement and Ship Breaking Yard’s plot leases with various Corporate and individual investors at the time of the New Port Development Policy of the State of Gujarat in the late 1990. He had also provided opinion, views, comments and suggestions to the Shipbreakers Association at Bhavnagar on the Draft of the Hong Kong Convention. Sameer is also an Arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Art (CAfA) – Netherlands. He is a Member of the Steering Committee and the Co-Chair of Asia Pacific region of Greener Arbitration London. He is also appointed as a Co-Founder and Member of the Executive Committee of India Chapter of Energy Related Arbitration Practitioners (ENRAP). He is also a member of the Core Committee of Beihai Asia International Arbitration Center, Singapore (BAIAC).
